a group of animals in a river

Overview

A photography trip to the Masai Mara and Amboseli during the Great Migration offers access to some of Africa’s most dynamic wildlife action and contrasting landscapes. In the Masai Mara, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move across open plains, creating constant opportunities to capture scale, movement, and predator–prey interactions. River crossings bring intense, fast paced moments with crocodiles, dust, and dramatic light. Big cats like lions, cheetahs, and leopards are regularly active around the migration routes, offering strong behavioral photography. Amboseli shifts the visual language, with elephants moving across open grasslands framed by Mount Kilimanjaro. Large tuskers, dust-filled scenes, and clean horizons allow for powerful compositions. Early mornings and late evenings provide soft light, layered backgrounds, and atmospheric conditions. With time to work sightings and adjust angles, the experience focuses on storytelling through images, combining action, landscape, and iconic wildlife moments across two of Kenya’s most photogenic ecosystems.
